Why are there more billionaires than ever?

There was not much hope if he stayed in this small, poor town, so, at age 12, with a few pesos in his pocket, he moved to the closest city, Monterrey, in search of opportunities.
Back in the early 1910s, Monterrey had a population of around 60,000 people. The city was growing, and the growth represented opportunity.
After saving some money working for some relatives, my grandfather managed to purchase a wagon with a horse and became a taxi driver. A few months later, he found a more lucrative use of his wagon, moving construction materials to job sites.
After several years of hard work, he managed to purchase his first truck.

(My father is the second with a tie, from left to right)
Monterrey was growing at a phenomenal pace. Construction was happening everywhere. One day, with the help of his wife and oldest kids, they started making concrete blocks in their backyard so my grandpa could sell them using his truck around the city.
All his years of hard work started to pay off.
This tiny home-business slowly grew to become a prominent construction material producer in the city of Monterrey.

Now, to answer your question, why are there more billionaires than ever?
The reason that helped my grandfather escape poverty back in the early 1900s, is the SAME reason there are more billionaires than ever in the world today.
Let me explain:
My grandfather's family was poor, and they were set to stay poor for generations if they were to continue selling vegetables in and around their small town of a few hundred people.
Why? Their market was tiny, plus they were selling crops — the same commodity their neighbors were!
When my grandfather moved to the city, he found thousands of people to serve. He quickly went from serving one person (working for his relatives), to serving dozens of people with his taxi and truck service.
When my grandfather started selling construction materials, he was able to serve thousands of people.
Here’s the lesson: The more people you serve, the more you can make.
To make millions, serve thousands.
To make billions, serve millions.
To make trillions, serve billions.
Remember this: Every single cent you will ever make in your life will come from another person — NOT from smartphones, computers, robots or any non-living thing.
Today, we are in a globalized economy. The market is HUGE! Every single billionaire in the world has made their fortune serving hundreds of thousands of people with their unique products and services.
